Coca Cola controls medical research

Coca Cola recruits scientists to manipulate research to support the company’s best interests.

In this disturbing interview, Harvard University anthropologist Susan Greenhalgh discusses how Coca Cola has created a ‘soda-defence science’ that implicates lack of exercise, not consumption of sugary drinks, as the main culprit driving obesity and other metabolic diseases. While I’m all for regular physical exercise, it is nonsense to suggest that soft drinks, sugar and refined carbohydrates are not the main reason our health is suffering. But of course, this is a message that would harm Coke’s profits and therefore, must be quashed.

As you listen to David Marr on ABC Radio National Nightlife speaking with Susan Greenhalgh, consider the many ways in which giant corporations have artfully shaped our eating habits and lifestyles to the detriment of our health.
