A newly discovered superfood for your brain

A laugh a day keeps memory loss away.

Neuroscientists have discovered that humour is superfood for our brain.

How?

You might not feel like laughing at the moment because we’re experiencing particularly challenging times. But laughter is more about relationships than jokes. We are 30 times more likely to laugh in company than when we’re alone. That’s because laughter is a way of saying ‘Me too’ or ‘I hear you and I’m here for you.’

Despite what is going on in the world, can you nonetheless seek out some humour and share it with the people around you?

Appreciating humour gives our brain a workout in a similar way to solving puzzles. We get a sense of satisfaction at appreciating twists and understanding punchlines. This stimulates us to think more creatively in other areas of our lives. Experiments have shown that people are better at problem-solving after watching comedy. HA HA moments lead to AHA moments!
